Show Sections

The Halifax show is one of the great traditions of the town. Getting involved means that you you can enjoy the show even more than just being a visitor.

You don't have to be a farmer or a grower of mammoth vegetables to enter the show. There are classes for everyone. Go on, enter into some friendly competition and add to the fun!

2016 year was a great success for the Cattle Section! We had even had some breeds entered for the first time. It was also good to see so many new exhibitors to the Halifax Show. We appreciate the support and enjoy meeting you all!

Cavies (guinea pigs) originated in Peru, and have been domesticated for many, many centuries. They have been bred in a diverse array of coat types and colours, with the result that they now no longer resemble their wild ancestors.

Handicrafts and Produce

In the Handicrafts and Produce section there is a class for everyone. Get out with your camera, make some jam, or paint a picture. And all you budding Mary Berrys... Ready, Steady, BAKE!

This show is affiliated to Equifest taking place at the East of England Showground on 17 – 21 August 2016. The two highest placed exhibitors not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify.

To celebrate 70 years of the Halifax Agriculture show this year we had the Yorkshire Carnation & Pinks Society displaying their exhibition Flowers. Visitors to the horticulture tent will have the chance to win a plant at the end of the day. Visitors also had the opportunity to ask questions about growing and showing Carnations and Pinks to members of the society.

All exhibitors must comply with the current Livestock restrictions.

Holding Number:  49/349/8001 for the show.

Halifax Agricultural Show’s rabbit show is a two star show (under British Rabbit Council - BRC rules) covering Fancy, Lops, Fur, Rex and pets - and attracts rabbit exhibitors from all around the country and pet rabbits from all across Yorkshire.

Wow just when I thought the numbers couldn't get better than last year with 230 sheep we went and topped it with 278 sheep entered. 13 pens of Fat Lambs. Young Handlers again was a fantastic turn out with 19 children entered across 3 age groups, laughter was had by all as we had children who didn't want to speak to the judge and lambs not wanting to walk on the halter. It all adds to the character of working with children and animals. I love it!
